The Penticton and District Community Resources Society kicked of its 50th Anniversary celebrations with a staff and volunteer picnic in Gyro Park on Sunday September 18th just one day before the Society’s actual 50th birthday on Monday September 19th. The Society was incorporated in 1966 and has been serving community and making a difference in the lives of citizens ever since. The sun made a late September appearance for the over 100 staff and volunteers who enjoyed a great barbecue lunch complete with games and activities for kids of all ages (including grown-ups). “2016 will be a big year for the Society,” said Executive Director, Tanya Behardien (pictured above with Board Chair Paul Makosz). “Not only is the organization celebrating 50 years of serving communities in the South Okanagan Similkameen region, but we also have a number of exciting projects on the go including the new affordable housing complex at Brunswick and Nanaimo and the new campus child care centre at Okanagan College.” For more information on the Society’s 50th year celebrations, contact Tanya Behardien at 250 492-5814.
