Cancellations and No Shows
Cancellations must be made at least 30 minutes before your scheduled pick up time. Failure to do so will result in a “No Show” and you will be charged the fare for that trip, payable on your next scheduled trip. To cancel a trip, call 250-492-5814.
If you book a return trip from a doctor’s office, and the doctor is running behind, you must call handyDART at least 30 minutes in advance to let the dispatcher know you won’t be ready for your scheduled pick up and to reschedule your pick up time.
We suggest that when you arrive at the doctor’s office, you ask the receptionist if the doctor is on schedule. If the doctor is behind, you should call the handyDART office immediately.
Carry on Baggage
Due to space limitations and for the driver’s safety, only items you can carry on as you board are permitted. Call handyDART for further information.
Bad weather may interfere with the handyDART and conventional bus schedules. Please keep this in mind when the weather causes less than ideal driving conditions.
Suspension of Service
handyDART reserves the right to suspend any passenger for consistently not meeting handyDART guidelines, for repeated no shows or for abusive behaviour.
Children Using handyDART
Children under the age of six who are using the handyDART service must be accompanied by an adult. The accompanying adult must sit beside and be able to clearly see the child. Children under 18 kg (40 lbs) must be secured in a CSA-approved car seat supplied by the accompanying adult.
- Secure your wheelchair/scooter safely in the bus
- Assist you with your seat belt
- Assist you to and from accessible building entrances on each end of the trip
Drivers will not:
- Search for you if you are not present at your pick up time
- Carry your belongings onto the bus
- Manoeuver wheelchairs on more than one step or unsafe ramps.
