Penticton & District Community Resources Society (PDCRS) is seeking a skilled Residential Worker to join our care team for services to Children & Youth with Special Needs.

 Organization Overview

PDCRS is a multi-service not for profit agency that provides a range of community based services in Penticton and the South Okanagan Similkameen. PDCRS is celebrating 50 years of service! Approximately 190 staff provide services for individuals, children, youth, families, and seniors throughout the region.

The Position

Residential Worker for a casual position that may include night, evening and weekend shifts. The applicant will report to the CYSN Team Leader and is required to provide care for Children & Youth with Special Needs in a residential setting and to be an integral part of the care team. The care team operates from a child-centred approach, providing a circle of support for the child, youth and/or family. As a member of the Care Team, the Residential Worker ensures that clients’ physical, emotional, social, educational and medical needs are met.

Qualifications

Applicants will have:

  • Two-year diploma or degree in human/social service field
  • Three years of experience in a similar setting
  • Knowledge and skills in attachment safe approaches with children and youth
  • Knowledge and experience in successfully engaging in non-violent crisis intervention
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.
