Better at Home
Better at Home provides support for senior's independance
Better at Home is delivered in a partnership between Penticton and District Community Resources Society and the South Okanagan Seniors Wellness Society. All seniors in the service delivery area (Penticton, Summerland, Naramata, Kaleden and OK Falls) are eligible for services but must register for the program to become a participant.
Services are delivered by a combination of volunteers, paid staff and contractors depending upon the service required and the capacity of the program to respond.
Registration includes a home visit by the program coordinator to assess needs and sign registration forms. Call to book an intake appointment.
Fee rates for service are based on a sliding scale according to annual income and ability to pay. Some services are based on hourly rates and others are a flat fee. There is no fee for Friendly Visits.
As a non-profit agency, all fees help to expand our capacity to respond to requests for service. All fees and donations are funneled directly back into the program. This combined with the help of volunteers means we can assist a greater number of seniors who need support to remain living independently, at home.
Transportation – Volunteer drivers are able to offer transport to and from appointments, social or recreational activities, when available. Advance notice is required.
